Truck Driver, Transport Operator, Flat Deck & Heavy Wrecker Needed at Cliffs Towing (Canada) with Visa Sponsorship

We are still looking for motivated, hard-working Class 1, 3 and 5 drivers in our various divisions: Towing, Transport, Heavy Recovery!

COMPENSATION: COMMISSION

Tow Truck Operators: (Valid Class 1, 3 or Non-GDL and must have at least one year commercial driving experience to be considered.)

  • Driving and operating a service one ton or flat deck for loading/towing vehicles
  • Responding to various calls such as basic tows, recoveries, police calls, roadblocks, accidents, and jump starts.
  • Communicate with dispatch, customers, and service providers in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Provide the best possible customer service to all.
  • Load/unload vehicles from various equipment. This may include the use of chains, winch, wheel scoops and dollies and other equipment.
  • Use of company issued mobile phone and tablet to complete jobs and provide information to the office.
  • Complete daily paperwork as required.
  • Complete routine maintenance on equipment, such as replacing fluids, belts, batteries, lights, hoses, fueling and greasing.
  • 12 hour rotating shifts Mon-Fri; flexible work schedules as needed

Flat Deck Drivers: (Valid Class 1, 3 or Non-GDL)

  • Driving and operating units based on your qualifications and ability (Units assigned to driver)
  • Respond to a various range of towing and transportation calls, that will offer a challenge to your working career
  • Interact and communicate with our team & customers in a courteous and respectful manner by building relationships.
  • Connecting/attaching a vehicle or equipment to the tow truck and transporting effectively (this may include using chains, straps, winch cable, steering locks, and other devices as well as fixing lights onto the towed vehicle).
  • Experience with heavy winching, mechanical knowledge and experience driving across Western Canada an asset
  • Write up reports of services completed; accept payment by cash, credit cards and customers accounts.
  • Transporting and Towing a wide range of vehicles, including light to heavy duty equipment plus commercial equipment.

Transport Drivers: (Valid Class 1)

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customer while consistently providing customers with professional and outstanding service.
  • Inspect the load Pre/Post Trip.
  • Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that the orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles.
  • Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
  • Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries.

Heavy Wrecker Operator: (Valid Class 1)

  • Responsible for clean-up of major incidents with large vehicles/cargo which might include roll-overs, collisions, breakdowns, etc. Often dealing with the client directly and required to complete regular inspections and general maintenance on their truck.
  • Driving and operating a heavy-duty wrecker safely and efficiently on or off the highway, in traffic and under adverse climatic conditions.
  • Right overturned vehicles which may require the use of movable or non-movable booms and/or power winches; rigs various vehicles to be righted or towed using accepted procedures; uses booms to lift vehicles for towing; tows vehicles to designated locations.
  • Performs pre/post inspections along with routine maintenance such as replace hoses, belts, batteries, check and tighten loose parts, checks oil, grease, water, lights and mirrors and any other items effecting the safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Interact and communicate with customers & dispatch in a courteous and respectful manner, building relationships and trust.
  • Connecting/attaching a vehicle to the tow truck and transporting (this may include using a chain, winch, steering locks, and other devices as well as fixing lights onto the towed vehicle.
  • Removal of Drive Shaft of Towed Vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Securing, tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo.
  • Write up reports of service; completion of daily paperwork (trip logs, billing information/payment receipts, pre/post inspections etc.).
  • Experience in vehicular rigging
  • Minimum 2 years previous heavy towing/towing experience preferred.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally while consistently providing our customers with professional and outstanding service.
  • Be able to prioritize and multitask and remain flexible in continually changing situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Mechanical knowledge would be an asset.
  • MUST PROVIDE A 5-YEAR COMMERCIAL DRIVING ABSTRACT issued within the last 30 days AND COMPLETE A DRIVER PROFILE FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES; APPLICANTS MUST NOT HAVE ANY MORE THAN THREE MINOR CONVICTIONS WITHIN A 3 YEAR PERIOD.
  • YOU MUST PASS A POLICE CLEARANCE WITH VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK

Working Conditions:

  • Be flexible with work schedules
  • Regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; also required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 90 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather.
